The Neighborhood
Dongducheon is a city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Saengyeon-dong is one of the neighborhoods that consist the city, and this project was started in order to make safe and welcoming streets for the residents. The neighborhood still keeps its nostalgic values within its fairly fast developed city; they share walls in between the houses, take care of little gardens together, and live in the community of "US".
Together with two other graffiti artists, I was commissioned to design a mural to tell a story about the neighborhood, and the life within. The project incorporates graffiti pieces, spatial structures for people to gather, and safety light installation. Inspired by old telegraph poles and the laundry drying strings that looked almost to connect each others windows, I created several pieces of illustration for murals in different locations within this small village.
